Better News on the Horizon
After the turmoil of 2020 and indeed during the early months of 2021, engaged couples will be relieved to know that they may be able to move ahead with their wedding plans, and as soon as June 2021. The industry is bracing itself for a record number of weddings in the latter part of 2021 and for most of 2022. And with weekend dates at a premium, venues are finding that week-day weddings are now in demand like never before. This is good news indeed for the wedding service industry that has been on its knees for well over a year and even better news for couples who will have a wider choice of venues and suppliers. It is anticipated that with the lifting of restrictions, and as part of the roadmap out of lockdown, that the limits on the number of guests will be removed. Time for a party then!?
Flexibility will be key and a cautious approach is likely until we know for certain that the UK will be back to as near normal as possible. But all the indications are that planning a wedding is occupying many an evening during lockdown! Research by The National Wedding Show, in partnership with Confetti, indicate that 93% of couples have postponed their wedding to a later date, with 73% having the same budget to spend and 84% would like to keep their guest list the same as they originally planned. And whilst travel restrictions are set to apply for much longer, 73% of couples would like to go on honeymoon once travel is possible. The National Wedding Shows will be hosting autumn shows at London, Manchester and Birmingham and these shows are already bursting at the seams with exhibitors and catwalks shows!
